“Thank you, SLPA! I learned so much from you all—officers, members, and visitors— and I deeply appreciate your support. Thanks for helping me create, fund, publish, launch, and promote my first book and my author website. The SLPA was invaluable to me!”

Congratulations on the 25th Anniversary of SLPA. I appreciate the help from you and several other members of SLPA whose advice guided me through the process of publishing my memoir, Galloping Horses: Artist Xu Beihong and His Family in Mao's China.

Who we are and how we can help you publish your book
The St. Louis Publishers Association (SLPA) provides education and networking opportunities that empower authors and publishers to create, market and sell their books. Founded in 1995, the SLPA serves the needs of an expanding and diverse membership. Some of our members are multi-book publishing pros while others are aspiring authors wondering what it takes to get a book into print – with many others at various stages in between.

There has never been a better time to publish a book
The technical and financial hurdles that previously made publishing inaccessible to the masses have faded away. With the growth of short-run digital technologies, print-on-demand and Internet sales opportunities, the playing field has been leveled. Through our monthly meetings, newsletters and educational workshops, the SLPA helps connect authors and publishers throughout the St. Louis region with the knowledge and resources they need.

The SLPA is a clearinghouse of useful book publishing information, and a source of inspiration and motivation
We are an organization where like-minded people gather to learn and share their successes. Some members publish children’s books or personal memoirs, while others write how-to advice or fiction. But all of them share a common goal – they have something important to say and they want to get their message out into the world through a book. We welcome everyone along the full range of categories and stages of the publishing journey.

The organization has grown significantly in recent years. It seems more and more people are attracted to the idea of publishing their own book. And in the coming years, we will continue guiding the novice while also offering value to the intermediate and advanced book publisher. The publishing business keeps evolving rapidly, and we will continue to provide the most up-to-date information available on book development, production and marketing.

We encourage you to join us and wish you much success with your publishing goals!
